It comes exclusively from south-facing hillside plots in the iconic Monção e Melgaço sub-region of the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1988, Anselmo Mendes had the pioneering idea that Alvarinho could make even nobler, more distinctive wines when fermented in oak barrels. More than 25 vintages of Muros de Melgaço prove him right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA white made from Alvarinho grown exclusively in Melgaço. The vineyards are on south-facing slopes, with high ripeness and high acidity. It ferments and ages in French oak barrels for 6 months.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt keeps its usual aromatic elegance, with touches of orange blossom and tangerine peel. Full-bodied on the palate, it stays citrusy, rich and fresh at once, with a light smoky touch adding complexity.
