Description

Château L'Église-Clinet is a small estate on the Pomerol plateau run by Denis Durantou, whose name appears on the label, and has become one of the appellation's most sought-after wines. It comes from old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines and is made in very limited quantities. This 2009 vintage is a rare collector's bottle.

In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
