Description
Château Margaux is the Premier Grand Cru Classé of the Margaux appellation, a title shown on the label beneath the image of its famous neoclassical château. The Grand Vin is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and is known for its finesse and perfume. This 2005 vintage is one of Bordeaux's most desirable bottles.
In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
