Wine profile
Body
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 2 out of 5 — closer to «silky».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «high» (20% vol.).
Alcohol brings warmth and body. Still wines usually sit between about 11% and 15% ABV, while fortified wines such as Port sit around 19–20%.

Description
TASTE HISTORY WITH THE OLDEST PORT HOUSE
Every wine tells a story. In the case of Kopke Colheitas, that story is unique. Tasting
a wine is tasting history, and in the case of this Colheita it recalls landmark events
such as UNICEF being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its contribution to "promoting fraternity among nations".
WINEMAKING AND AGEING
Hand-picked at optimum ripeness, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and vinified through careful maceration extracting colour, tannins and aromas from the skins, complemented by constant pumping over during fermentation. This takes place in lagares at a controlled temperature of 28–30ºC until the desired Baumé level is reached. At this point grape spirit is added (fortification), producing a fortified wine. A high-quality wine from a single harvest. It ages in wood for varying periods, never less than 7 years, and is then bottled according to market demand.
TASTING NOTES
Vivid amber colour. A nose of great impact, with notes of dried fruit and liqueur. Wonderful balance, good structure and smoothness. Its freshness seduces and envelops the senses. An elegant, endless finish.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Lightly chilled, it shows all its finesse and sophistication with desserts based on caramel, nuts and spices, such as caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-intensity cheeses. Serve at 12–14ºC.
