Description
The wine Quinta da Pellada Pelada (often called Pelada or Mulher Nua) is one of the Dão's most prestigious wines, created by winemaker Álvaro Castro. It's known for consistently high scores from international critics.
The Wine AdvocateRP 94Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The very aromatic, elegant 2022 Pelada is a wine Castro first made together with Dirk Niepoort in 2003 and has tried to replicate again. It's an old-vine field blend from the Quinta da Pellada vineyard, with an extra 10% Touriga Nacional, aged for three winters in used, well-seasoned 400-litre French oak barrels. It has very good freshness and balance and is elegant, juicy and easy to drink, with fine tannins, complexity and depth. It was bottled in July 2025.
The wine Quinta da Pellada Mulher Nua (Pelada) tinto 2022 scored 94 points from James Suckling.
The critic keeps the consistency of the previous vintage, highlighting the balance and purity of fruit characteristic of this Álvaro Castro project. The wine was even singled out among the house's wines in his special report on Portugal's great wines.
