Description
Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's prestige cuvée and a benchmark Blanc de Blancs. The 2013 is 100 % Chardonnay from the five Côte des Blancs grands crus: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Only first-press juice is used, 5 % is aged in new oak, and the wine rests for almost a decade in the Saint-Nicaise cellars in Reims.
It shows lemon, white flowers, almond and brioche, with very clear chalky minerality. The palate is fine, taut and creamy, with a long, saline finish. Rated 96+ by Robert Parker, 96 by Wine Spectator and 99 by James Suckling.
Perfect with oysters, red prawns, sushi or grilled sea bass. Already drinking beautifully and will keep for another 10 to 15 years.
