Description
The Wine Advocate: The 2018 Albariño Cepas Vellas must be one of the best vintages of this old-vine (really very old!) cuvée, in a year when the wine reached levels of elegance and harmony I don't recall before. After leaving the wine in the glass for almost two hours, the nose became explosive, and the palate felt like bottled electricity, with mouthwatering, effervescent acidity as well as incredible depth and concentration.
I'm now told they believe the vines may have been planted in 1785, on a property that was once a granite quarry, so I don't need to tell you what the soils are like here. This is a very foggy region, bringing intense salinity to the wines. I need to find some bottles of 2010 I have in my cellar to check the evolution, as I was told, and I agree, that this vintage is a modern version of the 2010. 8,000 bottles of this wine were produced, and it was bottled in September 2019.
