As every year, in December a new edition of the Proensa Guide arrives, The best wines of Spain, in which some of the wines from Bodegas BAIGORRI (Rioja Alavesa) have been classified.

In this evaluation, the excellent score obtained by the red BAIGORRI Reserva 2014 stands out, with 95 points. A Tempranillo; aged 18 months in French oak barrels, finishing in French oak foudre and produced in 70,000 bottles.

Tasting Notes : Fine and noble strength. Well combined; aromas of ripe red fruits, flowers and spices, a touch of quality wood, a mineral base, ink and black coffee. With energy, body and nerves, consistent, powerful, balanced, lively. Bodegas BAIGORRI's Rioja Reserva reflects its origins: the high-altitude vineyards of Sonsierra with their clay-limestone soils. Perfect harmony between concentration and freshness, ripe fruit and balsamic notes. A wine that has everything for today and for a great future — already a modern classic.

Reserve red wine made with Tempranillo grapes from old vines over 45 years old grown in our own vineyards located in the municipality of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. After a manual and selective harvest, the destemmed grapes were hand-selected, grain by grain, using vibration tables and weight selection. Long macerations and intracellular fermentations with native yeasts in French oak vats. Natural pumping over and final extraction by gravity. Malolactic fermentation and aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

And this is how the winemaking team at Bodegas BAIGORRI, led by Simón Arina, contributes ideas with both classic and new varieties, resulting in constant proposals for new wines that respond to both conventional aging and reserve parameters as well as new trends.
