Description
Sassicaia is the wine of Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri and the red that paved the way for the so-called Super Tuscans. The first commercial vintage was 1968 and it now has its own appellation, Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.
The 2021 blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, aged for around 24 months in French oak barriques. It shows ripe dark fruit, spice and Mediterranean herbs, fine tannins and a freshness that gives it long ageing potential.
Pair with red meat, game and roasts. Serve at 18 °C, ideally after decanting.
Store the bottle lying down, away from light and vibration, at a steady 12 to 14 °C. At Vinogrande every bottle is carefully packed so it reaches you in the best condition.
