Monica Larner: It’s hard to beat this value. The GD Vajra 2020 Barolo Albe is well-structured, with fresh primary fruit, without the overripeness that is common in this vintage. The fruit is dark and flavorful, with a strong mineral component to balance it out. The bouquet exudes strong notes of dark cassis, plum, granite and a dry, rough touch reminiscent of crushed shale. The tannins are quite impactful, giving the wine good potential for moderate aging in the bottle.
