The Pio Cesare winery was founded in 1881 by great-grandfather Cesare Pio. He was one of the first wine producers to believe in the great potential and quality of Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and the other great wines of Piedmont. Cesare Pio, in the second part of the 1800s, was among the first winemakers to produce wines with a philosophy that was dedicated to terroir and the strict quality of the wine.

Vineyards: Sourced exclusively from hillside vineyard displays in a few selected locations in the Gavi area, from families who have been producing grapes under the strict control of the Pio Cesare Family for generations.

Winemaking: Low temperature fermentation in stainless steel vats.

Aging: In stainless steel tanks with ample sludge contact.

Grades: Fresh, clean and spicy aromas. Salty, with ripe fruit and a rich, complex flavor. Great aging potential.
