Niepoort Redoma red 2020

With Redoma they try, every year, to express what they consider to be the character of the Douro. The pronounced tannins represent the wildest and most untamed side of the region, with its vineyards on steep slopes. Its strong character results from mountain viticulture, the mineral notes express the region's shale soils and the rich and intense aromas remind us of hot summer days in the Douro. Redoma was the first DOC Douro wine produced by Niepoort in 1991 and, 21 years later, many things have changed in the Douro, but Redoma maintains its character.

Very closed in color, it presents intense notes of fresh fruit. Balsamic, with herbaceous notes reminiscent of the shrubs of Mediterranean flora, shows a strong mineral character with aromas of wet stone and earth, very rich and complex, with some notes of stem. In the mouth it is irreverent and very complex, with tannins present but very well integrated, which combine with a refreshing acidity. Very persistent finish, with great presence, and great aging potential.
