Manttoni 2022

Parker : The fragrant and approachable Manttoni 2022 is a new wine, a co-plantation from the Bastegieta house in Laguardia. It’s 50 percent Tempranillo, with the rest a blend of Garnacha, Mazuelo, Maturana Tinta and Graciano that he calls “le vin de mon jardin.” (There are some additional grapes from Leza and Navaridas.) It’s a smooth, aromatic wine that’s clean and expressive, with floral notes, a juicy palate and a very nice freshness. It may not be super complex or deep, but it’s very pleasant and almost dangerously easy to drink. It was fermented in 1,000-liter oak vats and matured in 600-liter barrels for 10 months. All the wines here are carefully aged in oak, with no wood aromas or tannins. This is a serious, harmonious wine that improves in the glass. I believe it will age well. 1,300 bottles were bottled in September 2023. 94+/100.
