Description
Cistus Concilium Douro DOC 2018, made by Quinta do Vale da Perdiz under winemaker Manuel Angel Areal, is a wine that impresses with its elegance and complexity. Made from Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, it follows careful winemaking, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. After fining with egg whites and light filtration, extended ageing of 22 months in new French oak barrels adds to its depth and sophistication.
AromaOn the nose, it shows excellent aromatic intensity, with notes of ripe black fruit complemented by balsamic “nuances” and spice. There are also delicate hints of truffle, adding a further dimension of elegance and complexity.
PalateOn the palate, the wine has remarkable volume, with very well-crafted, high-quality tannins. Refreshing acidity balances the robust structure, making it vibrant and harmonious. The finish is long and persistent, leaving an impression of sophistication and potential to develop in bottle.
An ideal choice with rich dishes such as red meat or game, and it promises even more pleasure with age.
