Mêda has been “rediscovered”.

In the 50s and 60s, its wines were already well-known and very popular in the old restaurants of Porto, along with Vinho Verde and Vinho Maduro.

Our relationship with Mêda began in 2003 and since then we have paid special attention to the region by working with its wines.

This once famous terroir is now diluted in the huge DOC Douro and has extraordinary potential of its own.

Despite belonging to the Douro Superior, Mêda has its own character. A region between the Dão and the Douro, it has characteristics of both. A schist/granite transition soil in an area with an altitude that can reach 700 m. With a climate where it rains more than in the Douro Superior as a whole and temperatures are milder in summer and colder in winter.

For these reasons, in our opinion, we believe that this region should have its own designation within the DOC Douro.

This is how wine is born Mater-Dôme , the matter of the high.

Medium intensity color with black cherry tones.

Very complex and rich nose with notes of forest and red fruits such as cherry and strawberries.

In the mouth, the volume and acidity lend great class and elegance.

It surprises with the persistence of the aromas in the mouth.
