Vallegre Reserva Especial White 2018

Vallegre – Vinhos do Porto, SA, is a Portuguese company, whose shareholders represent the 5th generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region, which is dedicated to the production of Port Wines and DOC Dourode Table Wines of high quality standards. Its headquarters are at Quinta da Vista Alegre, located on the right bank of the Douro, between the mouth of the Pinhão River and Covas do Douro. The origins of this Quinta in wine production date back to the 19th century. This is the conclusion that can be inferred from books specializing in vine typologies and from some abandoned terraces – the mortorios. Quinta da Vista Alegre was acquired by the Cunha Barros family in 1965, and was later integrated into the assets of Sociedade Agrículo Barros SA. Currently, and without denying its past and the knowledge acquired and transmitted from generation to generation, Vallegre is a modern and dynamic company, maintaining the production of the highest quality Port and DOC Douroda wines as its primary objective. The wines are now sold and appreciated in more than twenty-five countries, and the recent awards and distinctions received in various International Competitions attest and recognize the quality of the wines produced at this Quinta.

It spent 12 months in barrel where it also fermented. Aroma still marked by the (good) new barrel, toasted notes with ripe fruit and some dried fruits appearing in the background, giving elegance to the wine. Soft and unctuous, but with good acidity to give firmness and persistence. It deserves cellar time.
