Description
Jerez Tradición Brandy Solera Gran Reserva is one of the most prestigious brandies from Jerez, Spain, made by Bodegas Tradición. It's an artisanal spirit with an average age of 25 years, from a blend of historic soleras dating back to the early 20th century.
Jerez Tradición Solera Gran Reserva
Critical Review (SherryNotes): It's often cited as a "step up" from most commercial Jerez brandies, praised for its complexity and unique "bittersweet" profile.
A brandy of strong character, decidedly dry and austere, far from the sweeter profile typical of many commercial versions. It's a deep amber colour lit by golden and greenish glints, a clear sign of its long oxidative ageing in wood.
AromaOn the nose it shows great purity and complexity, with nuts such as hazelnut and toasted walnut, wrapped in notes of fine wood and old oak. Spices (clove, pepper and nutmeg) add depth, while subtle hints of tobacco and leather bring elegance.
PalateOn the palate it's broad and structured, with a clear influence from the Oloroso butts. The profile stays dry, with intense flavours of dark chocolate and coffee, and a light saline nuance recalling the Jerez terroir. The texture is velvety and unctuous, balanced by a freshness that holds it all together. The finish is long, persistent and markedly dry.
