The Wine Advocate: The 2018 Albariño Cepas Vellas must be one of the best vintages of this old-vine cuvée (really, really old!) in a year that has seen the wine reach levels of elegance and harmony that I can’t recall. After letting the wine sit in the glass for almost two hours, the aroma became explosive, and the palate was like bottled electricity, with a fizzy, mouth-watering acidity and incredible depth and concentration.

I’ve now been told that they believe the vines may have been planted in 1785 on a property that was once a granite quarry, so I don’t need to tell you what the soils are like here. This is a region with a lot of fog, which brings an intense salinity to the wines. I need to find some bottles of the 2010 that I have stored in my cellar to check the evolution, as I’ve been told, and I agree, that this vintage is a modern version of the 2010. There were 8,000 bottles of this wine produced, and it was bottled in September 2019.
