Description
Character, elegance and boldness. That is Teixuga Tinto 2020, the flagship wine of Caminhos Cruzados, a Dão producer based in Nelas, with production limited to about 3,000 bottles.
Old vines at Quinta da Teixuga, aged 50 to 70 years and planted on granite soil, are the source of this Teixuga Tinto 2020, dominated by the country's queen red grape, Touriga Nacional, with a sprinkling of other old-vine varieties. It spent 40 months in new and used French oak barrels and about 18 months in bottle.
In the 2020 vintage it is fine and complex on the nose, with disarming clarity and brightness. A super-elegant Touriga with hidden florals, very delicate on the palate, with the oak beautifully integrated. Teixuga Tinto 2020 is particularly suited to game, roast kid or lamb.
The winemaking team of Manuel Vieira, Carloto Magalhães and Carla Rodrigues is responsible for this distinctive Dão wine.
