Description
This elegant Blanc de Blancs Champagne is made exclusively from Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards, namely Mailly and Verzy, giving it a sophisticated profile of great depth.
Appearance: A lovely deep straw colour, with fine, persistent bubbles that announce its liveliness and finesse.
Aroma: The bouquet is expressive and refined, with fresh notes of lemon peel and peach wrapped in delicate autolytic ‘nuances’ such as nut, brioche and a light touch of toffee. The Grand Cru origin contributes complex aromatic layers and well-integrated maturity.
Palate: On the palate it's fresh and mouth-watering, with vibrant acidity supporting citrus and stone-fruit flavours. Autolysis from fine lees sits at the heart of the palate, evolving with temperature into notes of apple, quince, biscuit and more pronounced hints of brioche and toast. It's full-bodied, with a creamy texture and a long, harmonious finish.
Food Pairing: Versatile at the table, it's ideal as an aperitif, especially with oysters or ‘carpaccio’. Thanks to its volume and richness, it's also excellent with more complex dishes such as fish in cream sauce, poultry or white meat.
Conclusion: Champagne Malard Cuvée Excellence Blanc de Blancs is a refined, full-bodied expression of a Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, combining freshness, depth and elegance. Highly rated in March 2025, it's a notable choice for lovers of Champagne with character and complexity.
