Description
Niepoort Redoma Tinto 2022 is a wine that embodies the "beauty and harshness" of the Douro Valley. The first red released by Niepoort (in 1991), this 2022 vintage stands out for keeping freshness and elegance in the driest year of the 21st century.
Tasting Note — Niepoort Redoma Tinto 2022
Niepoort Redoma Tinto 2022 received 94 points from Luis Gutiérrez, reinforcing this Douro wine's benchmark status.
In his review in The Wine Advocate, the critic particularly highlights how the wine keeps freshness and balance despite the extreme heat of the 2022 harvest.
Aromatically, intense notes of ripe black fruit, spice and the mineral, earthy hints characteristic of Douro schist stand out.
PalateOn the palate it shows structure and depth, with firm tannins and an elegant texture, supported by vibrant acidity that carries the tasting persistently and harmoniously.
Both robust and refined, this red expresses the authenticity of the Douro through a very precise, finessed approach.
Its silky texture and excellent ageing potential confirm it as one of the region's most consistent wines, also benefiting from the complexity of old vines over 60 years old in the Cima Corgo.
