Description
ALLO could just be a greeting, or perhaps a nod to the famous BBC comedy series ‘Allo ‘Allo!, but it's the combination of the initials of Alvarinho and Loureiro, two noble Minho grapes. Loureiro, 70% of the blend, brings its floral notes, while Alvarinho gives ALLO its structure. Combining the delicate nature of Loureiro with the confidence of Alvarinho, ALLO is a wine that shows both the fun and serious sides of our Territory.
Terroir: The Alvarinho and Loureiro grapes in this wine come from terroirs ideal for each of them. The Loureiro vines grow in an area with Atlantic influence, where the temperature range is relatively narrow, preserving this grape's typical aromas, while the Alvarinho comes from an inland area sheltered by the mountains of Monção and Melgaço, favouring the tropical-fruit aroma precursors so characteristic of this variety.
Winemaking: The grapes are hand-picked. After pressing, the must is clarified at low temperature. Loureiro and Alvarinho ferment separately in stainless steel, ageing on the lees before blending and bottling.
