Description
Bessin Tremblay Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2022 is an outstanding white from Burgundy, highly acclaimed by critics (93+ points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate). Made from Chardonnay grown on Kimmeridgian limestone, it reflects the classic, mineral, saline purity of great Chablis.
The Wine AdvocateRP 93+Reviewed by: Kristaps Karklins
From the Montmains lieu-dit and aged with about 25% in wood (an average of 10 years old), the 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains offers a bouquet of white flowers, green apple and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, tense and precise, with an ample chalky structure and a vibrant spine of acidity, it ends with a long, mineral finish. Beautifully balanced, it will pair exceptionally with raw seafood such as oysters and fish carpaccio.
Jean-Claude Bessin has officially retired, handing over to his sons, Romain and Antoine. Romain now looks after the vineyards, while Antoine runs the cellar. What was Domaine Jean-Claude Bessin has been renamed Domaine Bessin-Tremblay, Tremblay being the surname of Romain's mother, whose family provided much of the domaine's vineyards. The name may have changed, but the quality of this 12.3-hectare domaine in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne remains just as impressive.
