Description
Maison Trimbach Gewürztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre 2016 is a top-of-the-range white from France's prestigious Alsace region. This special cuvée from the renowned Maison Trimbach is made only in the best vintages, from selected old vines on the marl-limestone ("Keuper") soils around Ribeauvillé.
Intense aromas of rose petals and lychee. Rich and spicy, with pure flavours, lovely elegance and great persistence. Superb with complex spicy dishes from around the world.
The soil in Trimbach's vineyards in Ribeauvillé, part of the Grand Cru Osterberg, is very stony limestone over a sandstone base at 250 to 350 metres above sea level. The well-drained clay-limestone soil over deep sandstone supports vines with an average age of 40 years. The grapes are hand-picked as late as possible to reach maximum ripeness, which gives optimal depth of flavour and complexity after gentle pressing in a pneumatic press. The juice enters the cellar by gravity and settles naturally before fermentation. It ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel for 2–3 weeks. This cuvée is vinified almost completely dry, its lovely balance the result of highly concentrated fruit from very low yields.
