Description
At Quinta de Alvites, Baião, in the south-east of the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region and already in the Douro valley, the Pires & Turner project was born, offering a modern approach to one of Portugal's most exciting wines: Vinho Verde.
The Pires & Turner project grew from the dream of a Portuguese-American couple who, while working in Africa, decided to buy Quinta de Alvites, in an impoverished area of northern Portugal, with the dream of creating a sustainable Vinho Verde production platform that would promote the socio-economic development of the municipality.
In a transition zone between Vinho Verde and the Douro, with the river as influence and backdrop, the hillside vineyards on granite soils face wide temperature swings, in an outstanding terroir for Avesso, producing unique wines unlike those of any other region, marked by freshness and minerality but also by their ageing potential.
Very attractive straw-citrine colour, with good aromatic intensity, floral and white-fruit notes, and overall good freshness and minerality; fresh acidity and medium body with good texture, supported by quality fruit, giving a lively, crisp finish.
