Description
Quinta de Saes Reserva Encruzado 2025 is an excellent white from the Dão, made by the respected Quinta da Pellada (Álvaro Castro). Although 2025 is the latest vintage, this label has long been recognised by critics for its elegance and vibrant mineral profile.
A white that perfectly captures the classic Dão profile, marked by minerality and austere elegance. It has a medium-intensity lemon-green colour and a nose that opens in the glass, revealing aromas of lemon, melon, citrus zest and delicate yellow flowers.
On the palate it shows vibrant acidity giving freshness and precision, balanced by medium body and a harmonious texture. The finish is long and persistent, marked by a subtle bitter note on the aftertaste, typical of young Encruzado, which reinforces its potential to develop in bottle.
Considered by experts a benchmark for Encruzado, this wine stands out for:
Freshness and minerality: the use of used 400L barrels preserves the purity of the Dão terroir, keeping the oak in the background.
Ageing potential: although it shines young for its liveliness, it shows excellent potential to develop in bottle.
Value for money: often named an excellent buy in international guides, combining high scores with an accessible price (around €18–€20).
