Description
Hacienda López de Haro Clásica Gran Reserva Tinto 2005 is a mature red, very deep red with cherry tones and a brick-red rim. The nose is very intense, with spicy notes (mainly liquorice) alongside black fruit and citrus. Tobacco and fresh fruit appear in the background. On the palate it's intense and pleasant, very harmonious and warm. Very rich acidity. A complex finish. A wine to enjoy thoughtfully.
Tim Atkin, recognised as one of Rioja's most prestigious wine critics, gave Hacienda López de Haro Clásica Gran Reserva 2005 95 points and, in his 2024 report, also named it “Gran Reserva of the Year”.
Tasting Note according to Tim Atkin
Atkin describes this wine as elegant and harmonious, where tradition meets very rigorous execution. Among its most striking features:
Nose: Expressive and enveloping, with well-defined notes of tobacco leaf, fresh leather and a touch of spice.
Palate: A marked, almost stony minerality, with intense fruit reminiscent of wild strawberries. Balanced and very composed.
Conclusion: A classic, captivating wine, described as “very serious” and full of character.
