Description

Pio Cesare Langhe Chardonnay Piodilei 2023 is a highly expressive, prestigious Italian white made in the renowned Piedmont region by the historic Pio Cesare winery. First released with the 1985 vintage, it was one of the first Chardonnays planted and barrel-fermented in the region, created to prove that the Langhe terroir can also produce complex whites with great ageing potential. Its name ("Pio de lei") is a tribute to the women of the Pio family.

The Pio Cesare 2023 Langhe Chardonnay Piodilei shows excellent balance between freshness and a delicate texture, giving this Piedmont white remarkable versatility with food. From estate vineyards in the Langhe, Piodilei reflects Pio Cesare's long tradition of interpreting Chardonnay in Piedmont with a Burgundy-inspired sensibility.

It can be enjoyed with lighter dishes, but also benefits from its slight creaminess and the fruit typical of a warm vintage, going particularly well with white meat in sauces.

On the nose it shows expressive aromas of stone fruit, golden apple and delicate notes of preserved lemon, leading to a fresh, lively finish with pleasant acidity.
