The Wine Advocate
RP 91 (2021 vintage)
Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The 2021 Alento Reserva Tinto is the only red with a small share of French grapes, 10% Syrah, alongside 40% Aragonez, 40% Alicante Bouschet and 10% Touriga Nacional from most of their plots and soils. It fermented in stainless steel and aged in 300- and 500-litre oak barrels, less than 10% new, for a year. It has a more southern profile, with ripeness and 14.4% alcohol, while keeping very good freshness and acidity (6.3 grams). It's already quite spicy with generous oak, and abundant, slightly dusty tannins.
16,000 bottles and 1,000 magnums were produced. It was bottled in January 2025.
