Description
Carramimbre Crianza 2022 is a prestigious Spanish red made by Bodegas Carramimbre in the iconic D.O. Ribera del Duero. It's a structured, elegant wine with excellent balance between fruit and oak.
Tasting Note — Carramimbre Crianza 2022
Deep, concentrated cherry red, with an intense ruby hue and violet glints that show its youth.
On the nose it shows a complex, expressive and enveloping profile, with a harmonious combination of ripe fruit and spice. Aromas of ripe red fruit come with notes of cinnamon, mint and spearmint, joined by nuances of vanilla and cocoa from 12 months in barrel.
On the palate it's intense, structured and vigorous, with a firm attack and excellent definition. The tannins are solid but polished and well integrated, while the acidity brings balance, freshness and energy. The finish is long and persistent, marked by expressive fruit and spice, extending the sensations from the nose.
Carramimbre Crianza 2022 is thus a robust, structured Ribera del Duero, yet balanced and elegant. Ripe fruit, firm tannins and notes from the oak give it dimension and personality, making it particularly suited to intense, somewhat rich dishes.
Food Pairing
It finds excellent partners at the table, especially red meat, roasts, game and traditional cooking, where its structure can match intense flavours.
Red meat and roasts
Roast suckling pig or lamb are especially good choices, as the fat and texture of the meat are balanced by the wine's acidity and tannins. A posta à Mirandesa or a grilled tomahawk, simply seasoned, bring out the fruit and varietal expression of Tempranillo. Braised black pork cheeks find an excellent match in the wine's structured, velvety profile.
Game and traditional cooking
Dishes such as old-style duck rice benefit from the combination of fat and toasty oven flavours with the vanilla, cocoa and spice from the barrel. For a more intense pairing, wild boar or venison stew, made with rosemary, thyme and other herbs, goes particularly well with the wine's freshness and persistence.
Cheeses and charcuterie
Cured sheep's cheeses, such as aged Manchego, Évora cheese or cured Queijo da Serra, have enough intensity to match the Crianza's structure. Likewise, a board of Iberian charcuterie, with Pata Negra ham, Iberian chorizo and salpicão, makes a natural pairing, with the fat balanced by the wine's acidity and tannins.
In short, Carramimbre Crianza 2022 is a red of great presence, structure and balance, where ripe fruit merges with spice and barrel notes — a wine especially suited to rich, traditional, intensely flavoured food.
