Description
Champagne Gonet-Médeville Cuvée Rosé is a Extra Brut Champagne from a small grower (RM - Récoltant Manipulant). It's widely recognised for its fresh, mineral, food-friendly profile, the result of minimal dosage.
The Wine Advocate
RP 92
Reviewed by: William Kelley
According to Robert Parker (Wine Advocate), Gonet-Médeville Théophile 2009 is a Champagne of great precision and energy, with a serious style focused on purity rather than opulence. The nose is clean and very defined, with notes of peach and nectarine mingling with white flowers, brioche and a strong mineral component recalling wet stone and chalk.
PalateOn the palate it's medium to full-bodied, supported by very firm acidity that gives tension and vivacity. The absence of malolactic fermentation accentuates this nervy structure, balancing the ripe fruit typical of 2009 without taking away freshness.
The texture is marked by a fine, well-integrated bead, leading to a long, dry, saline finish with citrus notes of Sicilian lemon that prolong the freshness. Overall, a mineral, precise Champagne that clearly expresses the Grand Cru terroirs of Ambonnay and Le Mesnil, favouring energy and definition over creaminess.
