Wine profile
Body
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «firm».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «high» (13.5% vol.).

Description
Quinta das Bandeiras Passagem Grande Reserva Tinto 2017 is a premium wine with a dense, structured and complex profile, made in the prestigious Douro Superior. It's born of a partnership between the emblematic Quinta de La Rosa and renowned winemaker Jorge Moreira.
The Wine AdvocateRP 91Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The 2017 Passagem Grande Reserva comes from a different era of winemaking, and that's clear when you put your nose in the glass and notice the sweet spice from the abundant oak used for ageing — 20 months in French barrels — which tends to mark the wine's profile lastingly, except in very exceptional cases. On the palate it also shows abundant tannins, possibly too many for the fruit, which may or may not fully integrate with more time in bottle. 2,600 bottles were filled in September 2019.
Quinta de la Rosa belongs to the Bergqvist family, with 62 hectares in the heart of Pinhão, where they mainly produce reds and Port, but in recent years they have developed a broader portfolio of whites. In 2019 they replanted 2.3 hectares in the Cerejinha vineyard with Alvarinho, Arinto and Gouveio, and started producing new wines from these grapes. They also bought an adjacent property in 2019, Quinta de Vedeal, with 10 hectares of red grapes. The wines are under the direction of Jorge Moreira, of Poeira, with production of roughly 45,000 litres of white, 200,000 litres of red and 80,000 litres of Port.
I've also included the Passagem wines from the Douro Superior, from Quinta das Bandeiras, which they also call Quinta de Passagem.
