The Cardoso family's story in Palmela begins in the early 20th century, when Humberto da Silva Cardoso bought estates and planted vines in the Serra do Louro. For decades the family sold wine in bulk. In 2008 the fourth generation, led by Filipe Cardoso, launched Quinta do Piloto to bottle only the finest lots from the family's old vines.

Description
Quinta do Piloto Family Collection Tinto 2020 is the ultimate expression of Palmela Castelão, with strong character and a striking identity. It has an intense garnet colour, showing its depth from the start. On the nose it stands out for its aromatic complexity, combining notes of black plum and forest fruits, wrapped in spice, especially black pepper, and ‘nuances’ of Mediterranean scrub, giving freshness and authenticity.
On the palate it shows great elegance and structure, with firm but polished tannins and an enveloping texture. Oaky notes from its long ageing add an extra level of sophistication and give it excellent ageing potential. The finish is long and seductive, leaving a refined, memorable impression.
A wine that captures the essence of Castelão and the Palmela terroir, perfect for lovers of deep, structured reds.
