Raúl Pérez Castro Candaz La Vertical 2021 is a limited-production white from Ribeira Sacra, Spain, made by the renowned winemakers Raúl Pérez and Rodrigo Méndez.

The 2021 La Vertical was made with Godello on slate soils in the Quiroga subzone of Ribeira Sacra. It fermented and matured in 500-litre oak barrels for a year. It has aromatic intensity, with notes of pollen, yellow flowers and herbs. It's ripe without excess, has 13.5% alcohol and a velvety, balanced palate, clean and persistent. It evolves in the glass, which is a good sign. 6,000 bottles were produced.

Castro Candaz is Raúl Pérez and Rodrigo Méndez's project in Ribeira Sacra.

This single-variety Godello is the only white in the Castro Candaz project, run by the renowned producers Raúl Pérez and Rodrigo Méndez in Ribeira Sacra. It wasn't made from 2013 to 2018, so this is an almost unknown wine, and one with very limited production.

Colour & aromaYellow with golden glints, very bright and clean. Hints of ripe fruit and floral aromas, with citrus touches and ‘nuances’ of quince and mango, and mineral notes on the finish. Very balanced, fresh and well structured.
