Description
Románico 2022 is a standout red from the D.O. Toro, made by the prestigious Teso La Monja (Eguren family). It's known for offering excellent value for money, as the entry point to this winery's great wines.
The review by Luis Gutiérrez, responsible for Spanish wines at The Wine Advocate, highlights Románico 2022 as a wine that stands out for its freshness and balance, especially given the year's hot conditions.
According to the critic, the wine has a very clean, precise nose dominated by ripe red and black fruit, without overripeness. Well-defined floral notes and a light mineral touch add complexity.
The barrel ageing is discreet and well judged: around six months in used French oak adds structure without interfering with the varietal expression of Tinta de Toro.
On the palate Románico 2022 is juicy, with great balance and fine, well-polished tannins. Gutiérrez also stresses Teso La Monja's success in taming the robust character typical of Toro, creating an elegant, approachable wine.
Considered an excellent introduction to the Eguren family style, this wine surprises with its freshness in a generally hot, dry year. The 92-point score reinforces its position as one of the best choices in its price range, widely recommended for its great value.
