This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.

The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile

Description
Sidónio de Sousa Garrafeira 2017 is a true tribute to the tradition of Bairrada and the noble Baga grape. From some of the region's oldest and most prestigious vineyards, this wine reflects respect for authenticity and the knowledge of several generations.
The Wine AdvocateRP 94Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The 2017 Garrafeira was clearly more elegant and cleaner than the 2011 I tasted alongside it, with similar ripeness and alcohol (14.5%) but more freshness, reflected in a lower pH. It fermented in a stone lagar, partly destemmed, with indigenous yeasts, and aged in a 4,000-litre Portuguese oak vat, following the region's strictest tradition.
It shows notes of wild berries and aromatic herbs, with nuances of nuts and spice. It's full-bodied and juicy, with abundant but finer tannins. It's ripe, at 14.5% alcohol, but keeps its freshness with a pH of 3.3.
This is the new Garrafeira vintage since 2011. 6,500 bottles were produced. It was bottled in June 2022. The price hasn't been set yet; it should be released at the end of 2025.
