Wine profile
Body
This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 2 out of 5 — closer to «silky».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «crisp».
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «high» (13.5% vol.).
Alcohol brings warmth and body. Still wines usually sit between about 11% and 15% ABV, while fortified wines such as Port sit around 19–20%.

The new 2022 Parcela Pequena comes from the estate's oldest Alicante Bouschet vineyard, more than 60 years old. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and aged in used French barrels for 21 months. It has notes of ripe red fruit, some aromatic herbs and plenty of spice, with a medium to full-bodied palate, restrained ripeness, 14% alcohol, good freshness and abundant fine tannins. It's lighter and more elegant than I expected from both the grape and the producer, and the oak is very well integrated. 1,718 bottles were produced. It was bottled in September 2024.
Zambujeiro Parcela Pequena Vinhas Velhas 2022 is a deep, vibrant purple, showing its concentration and youth. The nose shows a delicate, sophisticated bouquet with floral notes of violets, nuances of fresh red fruit and ripe plums, plus mineral touches of crushed stone and subtle smoky notes.
PalateOn the palate this Alicante Bouschet surprises with its firm, balanced structure. Fine, grainy tannins give texture and depth, while juicy fruit and minerality add layers of complexity. Vibrant acidity brings freshness and elegance, recalling the refined profile of great Burgundies. The finish is long, persistent and sophisticated, leaving a harmonious, enveloping impression.
A limited production from vines over 60 years old, expressing the purity and authenticity of the Quinta do Zambujeiro terroir.
