Description
Benoît Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain Branco 2022 is a high-end white made in France's prestigious Burgundy region (Côte de Beaune). Made from Chardonnay, it comes from one of the most coveted climats in Chassagne-Montrachet.
The Wine AdvocateRP 93Reviewed by: William Kelley
Notes of citrus zest, white flowers and hazelnuts introduce the 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain, a medium- to full-bodied, satiny and pure wine, long and penetrating, with an elegant profile and a mouth-watering finish that belies this terroir's sometimes sturdier disposition.
Benoit founded his own domaine in November 2020. In 2020, to prepare for the transition, he bought must from close friends whose methods are in tune with his. By 2021 he was working almost entirely with grapes from his own domaine, and the results were even more exciting, delivering one of the most captivating portfolios in the Côte de Beaune in that challenging vintage. His 2022s match that level, showing satiny textures, minimal oak influence and a vibrant, slender style, far from the fat, fleshy stereotype often associated with Chassagne-Montrachet.
