Description
Naku 2022 is a DOCa Rioja red made by Ukan Winery (a Koldo Eguren project in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa). It's made exclusively from Tempranillo and focuses on a fresh, vertical expression of terroir.
In his renowned Rioja Special Report, Tim Atkin (Master of Wine) once again shows his appreciation for Koldo Eguren's work, giving Naku 2022 91 points.
In his review, Atkin describes this wine as an example of great purity and freshness. Aromatically, expressive notes of wild red fruit stand out, with a delicate floral touch and no marked oak influence.
In terms of structure, he highlights the silky texture and finely integrated tannins, the result of winemaking in concrete that preserves the fruit's vitality.
On the palate it stands out for its liveliness, elegance and balance, typical of Rioja Alavesa's high-altitude wines. A juicy, captivating, harmonious wine.
Tasting Note (Guía Peñín)
Modern and very expressive, this wine is a bright cherry colour with violet glints, showing its youth. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruit such as raspberry and cherry stand out, with subtle wild-herb notes and an elegant mineral touch.
PalateOn the palate it's balanced and easy to drink, with ripe tannins and well-judged acidity giving freshness. The finish is persistent, marked by the return of the fruit, which delicately prevails over the oak.
Classified as a modern author's wine, it shows careful winemaking that favours the purity of Tempranillo. With 91 points, it stands out as an excellent choice in its price range and a highly recommended buy.
In conclusion, Atkin sees Naku as an excellent introduction to Ukan Winery's style, combining an "author's wine" identity with very attractive value for money.
