Description
O Cortes do Tua Reserva Tinto 2023 is a Douro wine made from vines over 30 years old in the Tua Valley. It's characterised by a balanced, elegant profile, the work of winemakers Duarte da Costa and Ana Isabel Almeida.
The 2023 vintage is described as a wine of great balance, with firm acidity and tannins, making it a strong candidate for future awards at competitions such as the Concurso Vinhos de Portugal or the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Colour:
A deep, clear and bright ruby red, showing youth and concentration.
Aroma:
The nose is complex and intense, led by ripe black fruit such as blackberry, blueberry and plum. Layers of balsamic notes, hints of cocoa, Mediterranean scrub and light ‘nuances’ of vanilla and fine spice from oak ageing appear, all well integrated and elegant.
Palate:
On the palate the aromatic intensity is confirmed. It has balanced acidity and firm, well-polished tannins that give structure and ageing potential. The texture is velvety, full-bodied, with excellent balance between fruit, freshness and oak. The finish is long, persistent and fruity, leaving notes of black fruit and a light touch of cocoa.
Conclusion:
O Cortes do Tua Reserva Tinto 2023 is a modern, elegant Douro that combines power and refinement, already very enjoyable but with great capacity to develop in bottle. Ideal with red meat, game and aged cheeses.
