Bairrada (Fogueira), Portugal · since 1989
Mário Sérgio founded Quinta das Bágeiras in 1989 in the village of Fogueira, bringing together the vineyards of both his grandfathers; the name came from locals, who would say 'there goes Fausto to his Quinta das Bágeiras'. With the support of his father, Abel, 12 hectares that had sold wine in bulk began producing wines under their own label, made with minimal intervention.

Description
Deeply citrus on the nose, this wine opens with an explosion of orange in several dimensions — fresh, ripe and peel — with a subtle touch of honeycomb adding delicacy. The aromatic purity is remarkable, with crystalline fruit where the oak from the fermentation barrels is fully integrated, almost invisible.
PalateOn the palate it's both unctuous and taut: the enveloping texture and volume are balanced by lively, crisp acidity that supports the wine and gives it energy. Notes of ginger, exotic spice and citrus extend the aromatic profile, adding complexity and depth.
A white of enormous class, precise and elegant, finishing long and persistent, leaving an almost endless sense of freshness and sophistication.
