Description

Quinta de Santiago Alvarinho 2024 is an excellent white made on clay-loam soils in the renowned Monção e Melgaço sub-region, in the heart of the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region. Signed by winemaker Abel Codesso, this single-varietal faithfully expresses the purity, potential and typicity of Alvarinho in an exceptional, very balanced vintage.

The bright, almost fluorescent yellow 2024 Alvarinho comes from Sylvoz-cordon-trained vines on clay soils in different plots of the estate. It was vinified and aged in stainless steel, with some bâtonnage, for eight months. It has notes of lemon drops and some flowers; it's varietal, clean, expressive and very well made, reflecting the signature of winemaker Nuno Mira do Ó. It's tasty and elegant, polished and harmonious, very pleasant, with excellent freshness. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.35 and 6.2 grams of acidity. 20,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in May 2025.

Quinta de Santiago is a family estate in Monção, in the heart of the Alvarinho sub-region of Vinho Verde. José and Joana Santiago started the project in 2010 with the support of consultant Nuno Mira do Ó. They have 10 hectares of 25-year-old vines next to the winery, on a family property dating from 1899, planted with Alvarinho, Loureiro and Alvarelhão. Because of the hot, dry climate of recent vintages, they're moving towards regenerative viticulture. Annual production is 66,000 bottles, or 50,000 litres.
