The golden 2023 Vinha do Chapim Alvarinho comes from a single plot with vines averaging 25 years old, where there's less clay and more granite influence. It fermented in stainless steel, where it stayed for a year on its full lees, without malolactic because of its naturally low pH (3.0). It shows good ripeness, notes of yellow rather than white fruit, 13% alcohol and 7.6 grams of acidity. It has some lightness on the palate and is certainly fresh. 3,300 bottles were produced. It was bottled in August 2024.

Quinta de Santiago is a family estate in Monção, in the heart of Vinho Verde's Alvarinho sub-region. José and Joana Santiago started the project in 2010 with the support of consultant Nuno Mira do Ó. The estate has 10 hectares of vines around 25 years old next to the winery, on a family property dating from 1899, planted with Alvarinho, Loureiro and Alvarelhão. Given the hot, dry climate of recent vintages, they're turning to regenerative viticulture. Production is 66,000 bottles, or 50,000 litres.

The official tasting note from James Suckling for Quinta de Santiago Vinha do Chapim 2023, tasted in August 2025, highlights a vibrant, markedly mineral wine. On the palate it's round and saline, with a very appealing stony texture. It shows precision and tension, combining notes of brine, green olive and lime, supported by nervy, energetic acidity. According to the critic, it's a wine to enjoy now, while it keeps all its freshness and liveliness.
