Description
Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes T 2022 by Thibault Liger-Belair is a red Burgundy made from old Pinot Noir vines. It's a blend of five parcels from the lower slope of Chambolle-Musigny, planted between 1952 and 1963.
Nose:
Floral perfume: Notes of violet and a vibrant floral perfume, sometimes described as "whole-bunch perfume" because of the winemaking technique used.
Fresh fruit: Aromas of fresh red and black fruit such as cherry, blackberry and cassis are quite pronounced and open up with air.
Spice: The bouquet is complemented by subtle spicy notes.
A touch of liquorice: The delicate, well-defined liquorice note is one of this wine's hallmarks.
Controlled reduction: Some critics note a slight smoky or "struck-match" note, the result of low sulphur use in the winemaking.
Palate:
Refined texture: Rather than powerful and fruity, this wine is incredibly refined, with a fabulous mineral texture sometimes likened to graphite.
Fine acidity: The medium-bodied palate comes with fine acidity that adds freshness and balance.
Integrated tannins: Fine, velvety tannins give structure without roughness.
Long, mineral finish: The finish is long, mineral and saline, leaving a graphite impression. A little taut when young, it softens with time.
