Château Lafite Rothschild is a wine estate in the Pauillac region of Médoc that produces some of the most sought-after and expensive red wines in the world. The Grand Vin is known for its perfume, elegance, refinement and harmony, and the grands crus can age for 50 years or more.
James Suckling: Sweet tobacco, Spanish cedar, dried flowers, dark mushrooms and plenty of roses. Very aromatic. This wine is extremely refined and powerful, yet ethereal and polished. The finish is incredibly long, lasting for minutes. Taut and harmonious. I want to drink it right now! So balanced, yet with incredible aging potential. It will be excellent forever. Composition: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Best after 2031.
The Wine Advocate: One of the greatest wines produced in Bordeaux this year is the 2019 Lafite Rothschild, an impeccably balanced classic of immense elegance and charm. Exuding captivating aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries intertwined with violets, cigar box and warm spices from the glass, this is a medium to full-bodied wine that is deep and harmonious. Its velvety attack gives way to a layered and focused mid-palate, shaped by extremely delicate tannins and ripe acids, concluding with a long and perfumed finish. This rivals the 2010 and 2016 vintages as the greatest Lafite of the decade, and of those three vintages, it is clearly the most sensual and expressive from the start. The blend contains no less than 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and achieved a moderate alcohol content of 13.4%.
