Description
Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a rare jewel of Pessac-Léognan: a small vineyard inside the city of Bordeaux itself, next to Château Haut-Brion, named after the Carmelite friars who farmed it for centuries. It stands out for its high share of Cabernet Franc and a modern cellar designed by Philippe Starck.
In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
