Description
Clos Mogador is René Barbier's wine from Gratallops, one of the pioneers who turned Priorat into one of the world's great regions. It was the first Catalan wine to earn Vi de Finca Qualificada status, shown on the label, and blends Garnacha, Cariñena, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from llicorella terraces.
In the glass it shows concentrated black fruit, fig, Mediterranean herbs, liquorice and a marked mineral streak from llicorella, Priorat's typical slate. The palate is powerful and deep, with firm tannins, good freshness and a long, deep finish.
Decant an hour ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with grilled red meat, game or aged cheeses. It has the structure to evolve for many years in the cellar.
