This wine, produced from the best grapes from old vines, fermented in marble vats, using the traditional “grape treading”, and aged in new French oak barrels for one year.
Great Choices: Dona Maria Grande Reserva 2017, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Touriga Nacional. Distinct and deep aroma revealing dry grass, aromatic herbs, balsamic, cumin, nutmeg and black pepper, in addition to ripe fresh fruit. Imposing on the palate, with amplitude and refinement, high-quality and polished tannins, enormous persistence and a satiny touch in the texture. A great classic.
Great Choices: Dona Maria Grande Reserva 2018 Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Complex, serious and refined in aroma, with many intertwined notes suggesting blackberry, eucalyptus, fine spice, coriander, a hint of graphite and a touch of menthol. Rich, full of class, with exemplary tannins in refinement, very fresh, long and harmonious.
Great Choices: Dona Maria Grande Reserva 2019, various varieties with emphasis on Alicante Bouschet. Very good aroma, already tuned between fruit and vegetal notes, complex and layered, serious and seductive, very light touch of barrel. Equally well-balanced on the palate, voluminous, but with austere tannins, tasty and young, impeccable acidity. An exemplary red with years ahead of it.
