The Wine Advocate: Finca Martelo 2019 comes from a property planted with a blend of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo, Garnacha and Viura, located at an altitude of 630 meters, and is bottled only in great or excellent years. The 2019 harvest began on October 15, and the destemmed grapes underwent optical selection, a five-day cold maceration, and were then fermented in stainless steel tanks, undergoing malolactic fermentation in new French and American oak barrels. Aging was done in 80% American and 20% French oak for two years, with four rackings during that period. 2019 appears to be a very complete vintage for Martelo; the wine is very harmonious and balanced, with power and freshness, intensity and persistence. On the palate, it is surprisingly fresh, medium-bodied and delicately structured, clean and elegant. 80,000 bottles were produced. Bottling took place in April 2022.

Tim Atkin: Showing less wood influence than in previous years—part of a stylistic shift—this is a vibrant, acid-driven cuvée made from Tempranillo with 5 percent Graciano, Viura, Mazuelo, and Garnacha. Spicy and well-balanced, it features toasty notes on top, red cherry, blackberry, and wild strawberry fruits, and layered tannins. Ageing gracefully. 2024–2030.
