Description
Ex-Voto is the great Hermitage of Maison E. Guigal, the Ampuis house that has become synonymous with excellence in the northern Rhône. Made solely from Syrah grown on parcels of the legendary Hermitage hill, it is bottled under the old spelling "Ermitage" and produced in very limited quantities. 2010 is one of the most celebrated Rhône vintages of the past decade.
In the glass it shows an intense colour and a nose of blackberry, violet, black olive, pepper and cured meat over a smoky background. The palate is dense and silky, with fine tannins, freshness and a long, spicy finish.
Decant for at least an hour and serve at 16–18 °C with game, duck, roast lamb or aged cheeses. Already enjoyable, it has the structure to evolve for many years in the cellar.
